چکیده

The surface roughness effects on the dynamic squeezing behavior of a finite length partial journal bearing under a time dependent oscillating load is studied. Use Christensen’s stochastic models to develop the stochastic Reynolds’ equation of the longitudinal, transverse and uniform isotropic roughness. According to the results obtained, the roughness pattern, the height of roughness and have significant effects upon the mean oscillating squeeze-film characteristics of partial bearing. The value of the maximum eccentricity ratio is seen to decrease obviously with increasing value of roughness parameter for longitudinal roughness and to decrease slightly for transverse roughness, but to increase for uniform isotropic roughness, and to decrease with increasing Sommerfeld number. Transverse roughness bearing with higher surface roughness hampers the maximum eccentricity ratio, but longitudinal roughness and uniform isotropic roughness bearing reverse the effect.

Dynamic Analysis of a Rotor Supported on Ball Bearings with Waviness and Centralizing Springs and Squeeze Film Dampers

Squeeze film dampers (SFDs) are often used in machines with high rotational speed to reduce non-periodic behavior by creating external damping. There are some structural parameters which are of great importance in designing these systems, such as oil film thickness and inner race mass of SFD. Moreover, there is a crucial parameter associated with manufacturing process, under the title of wavine...

Dynamic and Static Pull-in instability of electrostatically actuated nano/micro membranes under the effects of Casimir force and squeezed film damping

In the current study, the effects of Casimir force and squeeze film damping on pull-in instability and dynamic behavior of electrostatically actuated nano and micro electromechanical systems are investigated separately. Linear elastic membrane theory is used to model the static and dynamic behavior of the system for strip, annular and disk geometries. Squeeze film damping is modeled using nonli...

Preload Effect on Nonlinear Dynamic Behavior of Aerodynamic Two-Lobe Journal Bearings

This paper presents the effect of preload on nonlinear dynamic behavior of a rigid rotor supported by two-lobe aerodynamic noncircular journal bearing. A finite element method is employed to solve the Reynolds equation in static and dynamical states and the dynamical equations are solved using Runge-Kutta method. To analyze the behavior of the rotor center in the horizontal and vertical directi...
